GAINES COUNTY - An oil worker from Odessa remains in critical condition.

34-year-old Zach Fitzilliam was struck on the head Wednesday morning when a piece of metal fell 30 feet above him.

It happened at an oil rig site in Gaines County.

This is according to KCBD TV, our sister station in Lubbock.

Gaines county officials say he was wearing a hard hat.

Fitzilliam was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
